Unity Scientific is Finalist in 2017 Manufacturing Leaders Award
Unity Scientific has been named a finalist for the 2017 Manufacturing Innovation Award, presented by Manufacturing Leaders, the learning community for the world’s most influential manufacturers. Twenty-four organizations, including IBM, Stanley Black & Decker, AkzoNobel, Thermo Fisher, BASF and Walmart, have been nominated across six categories.
Unity Scientific is joined by Bedrock Automation, IBM, Michigan State University, Sunpower and ThermoFisher Scientific as finalists for the Manufacturing Innovation Award.
Winners will be announced at a black-tie award ceremony Thursday, November 30th, 2017 at The Westin Boston Waterfront.
Unity's submission, "The SpectraStar product line and the use of 3D printing," involves the use of TAS TRUE Alignment® Spectroscopy technology for ease of manufacturing and customer use for the SpectraStar XT. Our submission also includes the development of a 3D printed spectrograph chassis for precision pre-alignment of 14 optical elements, combined with TAS alignment implementation for ease of manufacturing and top performance in the field.
Dr. Jerry Workman, EVP of R&D for Unity explains our entry, "The goal was to use the best quality components for simple assembly and automated calibration even with highly complex and maximum performance systems. This approach allows faster and more efficient production, as well as easier field service and replacement. This technology development and award recognition was a breakthrough accomplishment for the Unity Scientific R&D and Product Management Team. We are energized about our future as we plan to release extremely exciting and game-changing products that will have superior quality and performance. We plan on solving our customer's problems with the best industry performance and customer features."
